More than 40 crews entered for the Mens Double Sculls at the FISA World Coastal Rowing Championships held at Portsmouth recently
New Zealand was represented by Alex Dawson and Greg Reid from the Eastern Bay Scullers. Both these athletes have been attending this regatta for a few years and while they have meddalled in the past the upgrade of this regatta to FISA status has raised the bar considerably. Never the less the crew were placed 8th in the final of the 8.2 Km course. This form of racing is a bit like orienteering on the water - (see the course description Here) - as navigation in rough water from a boat that is so close to the surface of the water presents a degree of difficulty particularly if the boat is coxless.
